DOMA VAQUERA

This is a spanish type of dressage, which consists of the rider and the horse performing a series of movements in which the horse's ability is demonstrated. These, in addition to performing them as well as possible, the rider must worry about speed, because it is a requirement in all movements. The movements are determined in a pattern, the horse must always be attentive and willing to perform the activities indicated by the rider, the ability and speed of the horse will make the movements more impressive.
Dressage is one of the western riding disciplines. As I mentioned in my previous entry, it is similar to reining, but not exactly the same. In Spain is a culture, tradition and also considered an art. Also another difference is that in this discipline, you ride the horse with only one hand and the contest is practised with music such as flamenco.

There are different types of movements like circles, flying lead changes, rundowns, sliding stops, back or backups, rollbacks, spins or turnarounds and pauses.

This girl is a friend of mine called Ari. She practises this type of dressage and she usually goes to important contests like the Nationals. She has given me her opinion about this. She has also told me that she started riding this discipline because her parents, who are the owners of the equestrian school I go to, taught it to her since she was little and she loves it. She says it is the oldest and most representative dressage in Spain and she told me that the exercises she likes the most are sliding stop-sand and spins or turnarounds because they are the most different exercises to classic dressage.
